as it turns out, i am not all that flexible -at least nowhere as flexible as i should be according to the minimum yoga standards. nor can i balance on one foot to save my life. but, i did get successfully complete my first yoga class with robert mitchell, yoga guru extraordinaire..
and i loved it.
yoga has, officially, become the newest addition to my workout regime. and although it looks like one of the easier exercise philosophies, it's so not. as much as the stretching and relaxation components may incorporate some feel-good elements, there are some unbelievably difficult poses and positions which require one's undivided focus, physical strength and mental endurance. so, it's not surprising that, despite the slower pace, the lack of momentum...and the overwhelming majority of senior participants, power yoga is far from a walk in the park.
..in fact, it's more like a run through the mud on a rainy day. but, then again, who doesn't love muddy socks and wet hair?
