it's incredible just how much you learn about someone by simply taking the time to talk to them. whether it's someone you've just met, someone you see on a daily basis or someone you've known for years, but have never taken the time to sit down and ask the right questions, their life story in a nutshell is just one question away...literally.
i've just found, with all the years i've been at the pool, that people love talking about themselves. and all it takes is a welcome ear to get them going, a little bit of patience...and maybe a bit of a good escape plan to get yourself out of it.
but it's true..everyone does have a story; one they're almost dying to tell..
altruism aside, having your eyes opened and your perspective adjusted as far as realizing that what others have gone through makes your life that much more worth being appreciative of is truly precious. plus, meeting people and expanding one's "network" is never a bad thing.
