i'll see you in hell.

i know i posted something yesterday. which is why it seems as if it's too soon to re-post. except today's turned out to be just one of those days...so, bear with me.

i was sitting in second cup, waiting for my sister to finish work; meanwhile, playing in an online poker tournament. and, there was this couple, right beside me, who must have been talking for as long as i'd been there. anyway, from the bits and pieces of their conversation i was able to catch for that hour or so, they were probably the two of the most religious people i'd ever eavesdropped on.

and i'd never felt so bad playing poker before. i just couldn't help but feel the slightest bit guilty doing what i was doing, while they're sitting one table over praying about something or other. and whereas there's nothing wrong with being really, really religious (or, in my defense, with playing poker, for that matter), the situation i happened to find myself in just got me thinking...

so here goes.

is religion really the right answer? does being "religious" (whatever that word means nowadays) guarantee that a person is happy and worry-free? maybe not to the extent that life is entirely unproblematic in every definition of the word...but i suppose that having faith and thereby, always having some sort of answer to life's trials and tribulations relieves so many of the stresses that us, sinners, are forced to deal with.
and if you're a believer, have faith in God, and know that you're going to be taken care of by Him -does life essentially boil down to that of a waiting game?
is that too much of an understatement?

i suppose that this is where the concepts of fate and destiny and choice and free will come into play for people on my side of the fence. but, as much as i stand by my belief in those notions, i'm starting to realize how closely it resembles the hope that they exist, instead.
