i can still, distinctly remember, that mode of anxiety most of us were in at the end of the 20th century -not knowing if the world, as we know it, would survive the transition to the double oh's.
and to think that that was ten whole years ago!
it's amazing, looking back on the past decade, just how much things have changed -and how so many things haven't, at all..not even the slightest bit.
and that's not a bad thing.
i mean, you try your best to make the most of every day, every situation, every event, with the hopes that in hindsight, your life ends up being a combination of good days, not-so-good days, bad days and better days -none of which you regret having (despite how difficult some may have been). and whereas humanity is constantly aiming to do better, to improve in every which way..some things are just right the way they are.
however, with the start of a new year comes a new list of resolutions -obviously. duly note that one thing i'm extremely proud of myself for is being able to consistently maintain a regular and (fairly intense, if i can say so myself) exercise routine. growing up, every year (for as long as i can remember), i would resolve to hit the gym more frequently, eat better, be more active....the whole nine yards. and now, (after like, 2+ years of making a conscious effort to workout and what not) i finally feel as if exercise, nutrition and being healthy overall has become a part of my lifestyle.
so, for the first time in a long time -exercise does not make my list.
anyway, with it being my first year as a non-student: an adult in the real world -the things that do need tweaking, improving/doing, etc:
find a full-time job by summer
spend more time with my family
pick up a new hobby..or two
volunteer with a non-profit organization
have legs like beyonce
and maybe fall in love
i'm sure that last one's not exactly resolution material, but let's save that debate for a rainy day, shall we?
