from the perspective of a lifeguard, i suppose it's appropriate to say that we are bound to a certain philosophy of sorts. one which essentially translates into something along the lines of "shit happens; deal with it" -whatever it's shape, form or consistency.
on the other hand, from a philosophical standpoint; being a student of philosophy: an element of my life by which means i have ultimately been defined, being faced with what "work" may consist of is a whole different ball game. one which happens to be much more complex than simply encountering obstacles and successfully (or unsuccessfully) overcoming them.
i'd say yesterday -and its aftermath- are sufficient examples of that.
anyway, as per the irreconcilable overlap between faith and reason, i must admit to having but a single explanation for why things happened the way they did. i really do believe (as ridiculous as it may sound) that the stars were aligned and the universe simply took over on its own accord for those few moments in time. and everything ended up happening the way it was all supposed to happen.
if i've learned any two things in the last 30 hours, it's that adrenaline is a blessing in disguise -and that there is -there has to be- some sort of higher power...be it a god or God, Himself or some other thing out there that we simply haven't yet identified or named.
don't get me wrong: i'd never give up sleeping in on sunday mornings. all i'm saying is that religion and science no longer appear to be as irreconcilable as i thought.
