god forbid we attribute any more significance to having a significant other -or a lack thereof -than should be attributed to this "subject", shall we say, which just so happens to be a constant in life regardless of one's status. but to be two of those things -and not the third -is a circumstance in which, i will boldly claim, most people find themselves at any given point in time.
on the other hand, to be all three at the same moment in time -well, that essentially boils down to one's luck of the draw. and it's a rarity -our divorce rate is proof of that.
and whereas i've been in all three, unfortunate states: single and available, but not looking; single and looking, but not available; and available and looking, but not single...i can truthfully say that for the first time in my entire life, i'm none of those three things all at the same time =)
so, if there ought to be a thing rarer than a rarity, in itself, this would be it.
