and although my parents will be the first people to tell you that i'm completely self-centered and selfish...the truth is, i hardly ever get around to doing things for myself in and among my daily to-dos, being at work or being at school -let alone getting to and from school.
unfortunately, life's a whole lot of work, work and work...and sometimes taking that little bit of time out of your day to focus on yourself is difficult. but it's not impossible. i can use the fact that i'm a full-time student, practically a full-time worker and an english and philosophy specialist to justify why i have no time to myself...but i'm not going to because real life shouldn't be an excuse behind which one should hide.
so other than give myself a new set of bangulars, trim (and file) my nails, thread my eyebrows, and finally use up that gift card to lululemon i got for christmas, i've taken the liberty of finally buying myself a few books that i actually WANT to read.
after four years of reading textbook after texbook and novel after novel with very little say in what i'm actually reading -and with experiencing very little enjoyment in reading it all - i am lovingggg being able to go to the bookstore without a booklist and pick the book with the prettiest cover because it looks the nicest or head towards the book Oprah recommended because, well, Oprah recommended it..(although i'm an ellen fan at heart).
in addition to being excited about reading again, i've always always always wanted a library (in the house i will buy myself when i'm older). and although building a library is a long and slow process, i'm going to start now so that when i do buy my own house and move into it, i'll have enough books to justify giving them their own room. so, with the handy purchase of an iRewards card that i can use at any chapters, coles or indigo location ACROSS CANADA, my goal is to buy a book or two each month (obviously within a set budget) so that i, one day, have the mother of all libraries (and will be JUST like belle in beauty and the beast LOL)
and if i'm gonna buy the books, i might as well read them, right?
who said bedtime stories are just for kids, anyway??
