brand! spanking! new!

i spent most of my day yesterday cleaning out my room -and more importantly, cleaning out my computer! ever since the beginning of my university career, things have been piling up and since i wasn't sure what i'd need and when, i kept a lot of stuff with the intention of cleaning it all out once i was done university.

now that i've gotten to that point in my life that i didn't realize was so up and coming...it feels really good to rid myself of things that i don't use, need or even knew i had. everything that just accumulated over time...all gone!

i suppose i'm one of those people who don't have any difficulty throwing things away. yes, i keep things that are special, important...bla bla bla.

but everything?
i don't keep everything.

and in the aftermath, it really does feel as if that burden you've been living with has been lifted off of your shoulders. they say messy bed, messy head. and i totally agree. being able to give yourself that fresh start..that new beginning, that clean slate: greatest feeling ever.

i suppose that filing through the remnants of your past life, the way it used to be -although therapeutic in a way -is not easy. it's very natural to want to go back to the familiar past -the one we think sits around with open arms waiting to welcome us back. truth of the matter is, it doesn't. it's so easy to feel as if the past was a better time than now. but keep in mind that the memories you've kept -the ones you can hold in you hand -those are the good times. and unfortunately, they don't accurately represent the way life was once upon a time...

the past is the past -and that's where it belongs; that's where it should stay. remember that things always change for the better -and for good reason. and although realizing how much has changed is often shocking and hurtful, putting the past behind you is simply an important part of living your life to the fullest. and for the sake of moving forward and making the most of your every day, there's nothing else to do but that.

they say history repeats itself.
i'm just not sure i believe it.
