happy ramadan =)

just a thought...rather, a question: if eating and drinking are "forbidden" as per the islamic fasting protocol (although one's engagement in not eating or drinking should, technically, be a matter of choice and not force), is smoking also unallowed, if that's even a word?

and excuse my ignorance with regards to the details of the quranic teachings. although nowadays, what is practiced bears barely any resemblance to what i can imagine was, once-upon-a-time, implied. but is it merely the consumption of food and drink that is prohibited during daylight hours. or is one expected to deny him or herself of other such desires? and are those other desires satiable so long as the sun has set??

...like indulging in chocolate and ice cream, for instance =P
