"Torching a car because you paid for it may be a good step for Canadian activists: It recognizes a relationship between property and human rights." -Jonas
And we all know it; but, ultimately, it's disgustingly ironic -that the objective backing the G20 was to supposedly restore the world economy and somehow reconcile this consolidated deficit (whether or not each nation is equally guilty). and then, to justify spending 900 million dollars on "security" costs for a two-day event -the result of which, by the way, will cost the city (a.k.a. us, taxpayers) an extra few million dollars in damage control and what have you...just doesn't make any sense, if you ask me.
and i wouldn't be surprised if the true story behind the implementation of the HST is so that our debts (i.e. the costs incurred by means of the Vancouver Olympics and the recent joke of an international summit) are paid off in a timely manner.
Not so proud to be Canadian anymore, now, are we?
Happy Canada Day, nonetheless!
