so, paris was amazingggg.
it's such a beautiful city, there's always something to see or do...or eat. and the people -well, the guys- are to die for. i don't know what it is about french men, but they're on a completely different level. my sister's convinced it's their hair, but i have a feeling it's something more than that.
they're heavenly, almost.
besides, the men, however, i'd say that the biggest different between here and there is the presence of some sort of culture. it's something i've never really thought all that much about, but i find that we tend to hide behind our acceptance of multiculturalism to explain the cultural diversity we see in canada. but, with that, we see however many cultures imported from all over the world become little ethnic communities which replicate "home" for these people. unfortunately, this results in immigrants never having any reason to learn english or interact with others outside their religious, cultural or ethnic circles.
in france, on the other hand, everyone speaks french and there's a common culture -even though a large portion of the population are immigrants from elsewhere. it's as if you're automatically sucked in, the moment you get there; as opposed to here, where people try to make maintain their foreign lifestyles. and it really does make you realize just how culture-less we, canadians, actually are.
oddly enough, the french are more accepting and less racist than canadians, in general. which suggests that maybe we don't exactly have the right idea..
anyway, as a result of being away from home for five days, i've realized that i'm the type of person who gets home-sick fairly easily. so, something's gotta change because although nothing beats sleeping in your own bed, traveling and seeing the world comes pretty damn close.
