i know i'm a day late, but i hadn't exactly picked up on the notion that yesterday was any occasion either of you were interested in celebrating. you can always tell something's off limits when one's congratulations are met with a "don't mention it" and it's simply less painful to pretend it doesn't exist in the first place.
there's no denying that thirty years is a really long time. and i think i can better understand that by then, it's inevitable for a relationship between two people to have its problems set very deep in diamond. but, on the other hand, not everyone finds themselves in a hostile and hateful relationship with the person they've spent the majority of their life with. so, i'd really like to believe that it's not impossible to wake up all those years later and still be in some sort of love..
and i realize that i'm in no position to criticize -or to even comment, for that matter. god knows where we'd all be had things been even the slightest bit different. but i suppose, all i can say is that i hope i'm happier than the two of you on my thirtieth wedding anniversary, if i'm ever lucky enough to see the day.
happy anniversary, nonetheless.
